Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. One of the best holidays of the year, in my opinion. No pressure, not too much fuss, just food, family, and football. A day set aside in the middle of the week during the yuckiest part of the weather year to celebrate the blessings in your life. To celebrate family. To remember loved ones lost. To be together. Just be. I love having a holiday in between Halloween and Christmas, to hold off the Christmas music and center our thoughts on gratitude and the blessings we already have, before the onslaught of greed that can often become Christmas. Thanksgiving helps us remember what is really important, and brings those memories into the Christmas season.
This Thanksgiving, and every day, I am thankful for my family. I am blessed with a fantastic husband, who loves me, loves our daughter, and is a wonderful person. I am thankful for my daughter, who brings me more joy each and every day. I am thankful for my big sister, who though she lives far away, is always on the other end of the phone. I am thankful for her daughter, my beautiful niece, who taught me what it is to be an auntie, and her little Jomando Dos, who thankfully, is healthy and perfect. I'm thankful for my little sister, who adores my daughter and has the best sense of humor. I'm thankful for my mom, whose cherry face and positive attitude affect my life daily. I am thankful for my dad, for making me laugh, for always being there to pick me up, for just being there.
I'm thankful for Julio's family, a group of people with so much love we will never feel alone, no matter how far away we live. I'm thankful for phones and the internet to keep us in touch, and for airplanes to bring us closer. I love you all.
I'm thankful for incredible friends, whose company I never tire of, who make me laugh and lend me shoulders to lean on. Bonus points that my best friends also happen to be Sofia's best friends.
This Thanksgiving, I remember Grandpa Ron, Grandma and Grandpa Lines, and Aunt Suey. People who are part of me and I'll never stop loving.
Though there are always parts of life that I'd like to change, though we are always trying to move forward in our lives, it is always good to look back and remember the great stuff that is with you right now.
